New Year News Update

January has flown by in the blink of an eye, and it feels like we are still pulling down the Christmas decorations and cleaning up those New Year's drinks. Over the summer, we've been busy on the farm, developing new enterprises and improving our current farming practices. Zoe has been hard at work in the Market Garden, growing a wide variety of chemical-free, delicious vegetables. Aided by our natural compost and worm castings, the veggies are growing beyond belief, and there will be fresh produce available at the farm gate and on restaurant menus in town.

In December, we planted an abundance of corn, both yellow sweet corn and African white corn. The crop has been flourishing in all the rain, and tassels are becoming visible. Hopefully, conditions are suitable to reduce stress on the harvest so that you can purchase mouth-watering corn from the Farm Gate Shop or a farmers market near you. We've also planted corn and sunflowers at the farm gate to come and pick your own.

Our friends at Bumnuts in Gunning have decided to shift their focus from free-range layers to the other farm enterprises. So, Pepper, a beautiful Maremma guard dog, has joined our family and will be keeping our hens happy and safe. Thank you, Craig and Theresa!

We have been working hard on our new farm gate shop, which is very close to completion. The slab hut container conversion has been a labour of love and will be a unique shopping experience unlike anywhere else in the world. Our vision is to connect the consumer with the food and have shelves overflowing with fresh, seasonal produce from the farm –now that's low food miles! In addition, the new farm gate sales will have the option to tap-and-go and a refrigerator to sell our Majura Valley Lamb (available soon).
